Isaiah 60:1–6; Psalm 72:1–2, 7–8, 10–11, 12–13; Ephesians 3:2–3a, 5–6; Matthew 2:1–12

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

Today we celebrate the Epiphany of the Lord, the manifestation of Jesus Christ to all nations. The Magi, guided by a star, come from distant lands in search of the newborn King. They represent all peoples and cultures who long for truth, light, and salvation. In them, we see ourselves—pilgrims on a journey, searching for God, sometimes unsure of the path, yet drawn by a quiet but persistent light.

The star leads the Magi not to a palace of power, but to a humble home where they find a Child with Mary, His Mother. God reveals Himself not through force, but through humility and love. The gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh proclaim who this Child is: King, God, and Savior who will suffer for our sake.

Epiphany reminds us that Christ is not meant to be hidden. He is the Light for all nations. Having encountered Him, the Magi return home by a different route. So must we. A true encounter with Christ changes us. We cannot leave this celebration the same way we came.

May we follow the light of Christ faithfully, offer Him the gift of our lives, and become stars ourselves, guiding others to Him.

With Blessings,

Fr. Samuel Mungai, GHM
