Father Samuel Mungai
Pastor
My name is Samuel Mungai. I was born and raised in a rural town called Londiani, located about 5 hours west of Nairobi the Kenyan Capital. My parents were farmers and my dad majored in cereal business. As a boy my main duty was shepherding our sheep.
I am a convert to Catholic faith. I was in a Pentecostal Church. I converted to catholic Church after I joined a Catholic Mission school for 7th and 8th grade. I felt in love with the Catholic faith instantly and began praying the rosary. The miracle of Priesthood began here. I joined a minor seminary for high school and my vocation was nurtured.
After my philosophical studies in Arusha, Tanzania I got a Job as a high school teacher. For five years I taught Religion and History. During this time, I was discerning with the Glenmary Home missioners.
I moved to the USA in August 2015 to pursue Master of Divinity (theology) at Saint Meinrad Seminary, Indiana. I was ordained a priest on March 20th, 2021. My first appointment was in Raleigh Diocese. I was transferred to assist in Nashville Diocese as an associate pastor.
Some of my hobbies are traveling, watching Tv shows, reading legal thrillers and listening to Gregorian chants.
I come to you with a thirst for Christ who calls us into his vineyard. I hope we shall journey together to seek our ultimate call to holiness.
