The sacraments are efficacious signs of grace, instituted by Christ and entrusted to the Church, by which divine life is dispensed to us.
— Catechism of the Catholic Church, CCC 1131
What are the Sacraments?
The sacraments are sacred signs given to us by Jesus Christ to share God’s grace and draw us into deeper relationship with him. Through the sacraments, God meets us in real and tangible ways—strengthening us, healing us, forgiving us, and nourishing us on our journey of faith.
The Catholic Church celebrates seven sacraments, grouped according to how they support our spiritual life:
Sacraments of Initiation
These sacraments welcome us into the life of the Church:
Baptism
Confirmation
Eucharist
Sacraments of Healing
These sacraments bring God’s mercy, forgiveness, and healing:
Reconciliation (Confession)
Anointing of the Sick
Sacraments of Service
These sacraments help us serve God and others in love:
Matrimony
Holy Orders
Preparing for the Sacraments
Reconciliation (Confession):
The Sacrament of Reconciliation is readily available at the church. We encourage you to take advantage of this beautiful opportunity to receive God’s love, grace, and forgiveness.
Confirmation
Confirmation classes are held on Sundays from 6:00–8:00 PM.
Baptism
Please inform the parish office at least two (2) months in advance to allow proper preparation for receiving the Sacrament of Baptism.
Matrimony
Couples planning to receive the Sacrament of Matrimony are asked to contact the parish office at least six (6) months in advance to allow time for Pre-Cana classes and marriage preparation.
Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA)
We warmly welcome adults who are interested in becoming Catholic, as well as Catholics who would like to deepen their understanding of the faith, to explore OCIA.
OCIA is a faith-filled journey of learning, prayer, and community. Whether you are simply curious or actively discerning, you are invited to take this next step.
For more information, please contact the parish office or speak with Fr. Samuel or Fr. Joseph
The sacraments of Christian initiation lay the foundations of every Christian life.
